But what about my family?

Family Programs - The Philmont Training Center also offers 11 different programs for youth from infants through teenager.  Each provides age appropriate activities for your son or daughter.  Spouses and other adults not in a conference participate in the Silverado program.  Silverados plan their own schedule of relaxation, day hikes, COPE, tours, fishing trips, museum visits, shopping and more.

How do the famous 12-day treks at Philmont work?

Philmont Expeditions are treks typically organized by local Boy Scout Councils.

What if your council's Philmont Expedition waiting list is long?  What if you have a scheduling conflict?  What if 12 days seems a little long?  Can you still attend? YES!!!

Mountain Trek 14-21 year olds may love this option.  Choose from up to a dozen 6-night treks each summer that cost little more than a week at your local camp!  While they trek, a parent must attend a course at the Philmont Training Center.

Can a teen go to Philmont just for fun not focused on extended hiking?  YES!!!

Broncos 14-20 year olds can also stay with their families going for day trips with other teenagers on horse rides, day hikes, COPE, an optional overnight hike, and more.

My son is a Boy Scout but not old enough for Philmont...  Yes he is!

Trailblazers is for boys age 11-13.  They also ride horses, take day hikes, and participate in archery and air rifles, an optional overnight hike, and more.  Mustangs offers similar opportunities for girls.

Philmont offers programs specifically designed for younger children in Family Programs.
